Happy 28th birthday son!

Hey Adam - it's your mom & dad from Idaho. Wow, the birthday blog is a really a cool idea for your birthday! This is going to save us so much money on birthday presents. We decided we'll suggest this for all the kids. But seriously, we wish you a very special 28th birthday. Probably not too many of us can say we spent a birthday in Africa. We're not sure how you celebrate birthdays in Malawi, but I hope you'll fill us in. Really enjoyed the video clips of your hut, your stove and all your modern conveniences. The walk-in shower and master bathroom were especially impressive.

Seriously, we are so proud of what you are doing with the Zikomo project. One person can make a difference. I think that's what the son of a stone mason was trying to tell us about 2,000 years ago:
Make a difference in a few people's lives, bring some peace into the chaos...and you can literally change the world. The example you've set is pretty humbling...and encouraging.

Now just make sure you get yourself home in one piece and don't catch something during your last couple of months there. We think Tracy is improving after her bout with meningitis, but don't take any chances O.K.? Besides we're getting pretty fond of that Hillary girl. For some reason she's waiting for you to come back. So don't disappoint her.

(Oh, and we would like to see you again, too!)

We love you, bud.

- Dad & Mom

P.S. - Since we don't get to talk that often, we decided to include a couple pictures of the 'girls' weekend in Chicago and a couple shots from Israel. Seemed to be more interesting than a picture of us standing by the pickup.

At the bottom are Dad at 'David's waterfall' at En Gedi (where David camped with his men when running from Saul); and floating in the Dead Sea (1400 feet below sea level) with Brian & Chuck.
